Auburn lost its starting QB but returns its two starting receivers in Terrel Zachery and Darvin Adams. Both players were huge in big games last year. Adams is returning as a Junior to an Auburn team that is loaded at receiver.
The only position that is filled to the brim and tumbling over has to be Wide Receiver. When Auburn brought in Trooper Taylor most people expected big things. Well after a year, I expect for people to see them. Auburn had two receivers that were consistent last year. As the season progressed on, more young players stepped up and really showed that the future will be bright. A few names to drop would be Travante Stallworth, Emory Blake, and DeAngelo Benton. Auburn's gold standard at receiver currently is Darvin Adams. Todd threw the ball to Adams even in double or triple coverage, and Adams caught it. With the addition of Coach Troop Auburn's receivers went from one of its weakest positions, to one of its strongest. Auburn knows that they can call on the receiver's if needed. Running Back U is now working hard to bring in the top talent to catch the ball as well. Since Auburn was full at receiver, Chizik and company only recruited a few guys to fill spots in the off season. Auburn brought in two true receivers in Antonio Goodwin and Jeremy Richardson. Both are highly recruited players. Richardson comes in at 6'4 and could easily be an early threat to play in short yardage downs due to his sheer size. These guys will have to work hard to make it up the depth chart, but they certainly have the physical abilities to compete. Another star, Trovon Reed, is also a possibility at Wide Receiver, but at this moment I am not sure where he will play. Reed in my opinion is a team guy. He knows that Auburn will put him where he and the team can benefit the most. The history of receivers at Auburn is littered with great players. Auburn has some great players on the team now to do the same thing. War Eagle. |
