Today Auburn will host scouts from a number of NFL teams. Six Auburn football players will get a chance to showcase their talents to those scouts and hopefully help their draft rating.
Six Auburn football players will get a chance to show their stuff for NFL scouts today. Ben Tate already attended the NFL combine and as a matter of fact, had a great showing. Tate tied for first place among running backs in the bench press and broad jump with 26 reps on the bench press and an impressive leap in the broadjump of 10'4". He was second in the verticle jump with an unbelievable 40.5 inch verticle. Can you say "Air" Tate? He also came in third in the 40 yard dash at 4.43. One would think he would be happy with that, but he says that's the one area he wasn't happy with and thinks he can run a faster time for the scouts today. The other five Tigers that will be trying to help their draft status are Antonio Coleman, Chris Todd, Walter McFadden, Jake Ricks and Gabe McKenzie. Ben Tate: 5'11" - 218 - Carried the ball 263 times as a senior, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and gaining 1,362 yards and 10 touchdowns. Also caught 20 balls for 105 yards.
Chris Todd: 6'4" - 210 - Threw for 2,612 yards with a 60.4% completion rating. He also had an outstanding QB Rating at 145.7, as well as an impressive TD to INT ratio of 22 to 6. Antonio Coleman: 6'3" - 261 - Had 49 tackles as a senior and added 10 sacks as well. He also had an interception that he took back 20 yards to the house. Coleman projects as either a rush end or a linebacker in the NFL. Walter McFadden: 6'0" - 175 - As a senior he had 46 tackles to go along with 6 interceptions, 2 of which he took back for touchdowns. One of those two was an unbelievable 100 yard return that will forever be in AU highlight films. Jake Ricks: 6'4" - 292 - Jake had 38 tackles as a senior and also added one sack. He also had a forced fumble and an interception as well, against West Virginia. Gabe McKenzie: 6'5" - 252 - Gabe bounced back and forth between defensive end and tight end his entire career. He never really found a permanant home and one can only wonder what player he could have been, had he had the advantage of practicing at one position for an entire 4 years. One thing is for sure, Gabe is a complete team player and has sacrificed his stats for the betterment of the team. As a TE he had 29 career receptions, 287 yards and 3 TD's. |
